It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I love being a part of this and I hope you do too!  As part of this weekly meme I love to encourage you all to go and visit the others participating in this meme.  I offer a weekly contest for those who visit 10 or more of the Monday Meme participants and leave a comment.  You receive one entry for every 10 comments, just come back here and tell me how many in the comment area.

Last weeks winner (using Random.Org) was:

Sherrie – Just Books

Congratulations!  Please choose an item out of the PRIZE BOX and email me your choice with your mailing address as well!   journeythroughbooks@gmail.com

We had a wonderfully full weekend hanging out with friends, riding motorcycle, picnic, parade and hanging with friends again.  The weather was sunny and clear and I had a blast.  In “bookish” type news – here is what went down here this past week:

The Secrets Of Newberry Giveaway – 3 books!!!

Guest House by Barbara Richardson (A read of life changes and possibilities)

Remember Your First Time? (The books you wish you could read again like the first time…)

The Missing Element by John Betcher (A Minnesota mystery!)

Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler (review coming soon)

DUFF by Kody Keplinger (review coming soon)

Evolution Of Shadow by Jason Quinn Malot (review coming soon)

Step On A Crack by James Patterson (review coming soon)

I had a pretty good reading week and spent most evenings readings instead of blogging, twittering, or tv time.  It was actually really nice to just – read.  This week I am working on a few reads I need to finish up but I am also starting:

This was the “Choose The Next Book I Read” Giveaway, so once I am done with this one I will pass it on.

Born Under a Million Shadows is a library read that I am eager to get into!

I am taking today off from work this week – a little breather from the heavier load we have been carrying in the office lately and I plan on spending my morning seeing what you are all reading on Monday!  Please add your link to your Monday Reading post below where it says “click here”.

  1. Looks like you had a good week last week. I like the looks of the two coming up. Enjoy your day off and have another great reading week.

  2. I don’t know how you do as much as you do. I see you last thing most nights on Twitter, still going. I see you’ve discovered the secret to having serious reading time-no tv. I haven’t watch it in years and have no regrets. I’m looking forward to your thoughts on the Busfield book very much. I should check out that prize box, I’ve never kept track of the number of comments I’ve made. Hope you have another great reading week. My post and link are up-it’s been a while since my last one but I’ve read some wonderful books.

    1. Sandra – My Twitter moments have been short lived lately – LOL. I try to pop in at night to see whats going on – maybe post a tweet or two and then I am out…. short attention span I guess.

As for the comments, I keep track on a spreadsheet of how many comments each person has in a month and I assign the comment a number. I also need to add tot he prize box – I have a few books that I am willing to pass on.

Have a great week Sandra! 😀

  3. I hope you have a fantastic week off! It would be great just to have a few days to kick back and enjoy just being in the moment. Enjoy and I hope you get some fantastic reading in if you so chose! 🙂

    1. The 1stDaughter, I am really hoping to get in some good reading this week The1stDaughter. The weather looks like it will continue to be nice so my back deck calls me to go and read. 🙂

  4. you read so many books this week sheila! i’m especially envious you read the duff already–i really want to read it. i can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it.

congrats to sherrie! and thanks always for hosting this meme sheila 😀

    1. Michelle – this was a good week for reading…. by the time I got in the house and everything done for the night I had no desire for even the noise of the TV. Instead I just read and read. LOVED it! 😀

  5. You got lots of reading done last week, I cant wait to see what you think of Between Sisters, it’s on my tbr pile. Enjoy your day off and happy reading this week!

  6. I read the Winter garden by Kristin Hannah and loved it. I’m curious to see what you’ll think about Between Sister. i wonder if it’s as good as her newest one.

  7. Wow, looks like a great list from last week, Sheila. I love the idea of reading in the evening instead of watching TV or being on the computer – I need to do that more often!

We just returned from a 3-week vacation, so I have a lot of catching up to do, not to mention laundry, a huge stack of mail, and 700 e-mails! Yikes. Maybe I’ll go and read some more…

    Sue

    1. Sue I really do too – I got in this bad habit of turning the tv on for background noise while I update posts, etc at night… then I suck up all my reading time. This past week I sat out on the deck or in the recliner and just got into books. Ahhhh! 😀

  8. Kristin Hannah is one of my favorite authors. I have three of her books on my bookshelf waiting to be read, but, I don’t have this one.

    Enjoy your day off.

  9. I’d happily read in the evening and shut off the TV but my husband isn’t a reader and he wants the TV on – then falls asleep while I get hooked on the game or the program. Since he’s hard of hearing, the TV blasts and I can’t go somewhere else in the house to read. Good thing I’m retired; I read during the day.

    1. Barbara, Al goes to sleep early so it is king of like a game of Survivor – if I can outwit, outlast him – I earn the comfy recliner….LOL 😀

    1. Josette – I haven’t even opened the cover yet…. weekend was much busier (in a good way) than I had planned. I am excited to read it though and have heard good things about it!

  10. Born Under a Million Shadows was recommended to me by my sister. I am looking forward to seeing what you think of it.

I am off to visit some blogs and generally get organized after a hectic few weeks at work, a four-day holiday and I’m off again next weekend for another four-day weekend.

    Enjoy your reading week!

  11. HI SHEILA,
I am reading John Betcher new book and loving it.
I am supposed to be on vacation this week but wanted to keep up with this meme and I am glad I did. I hope I can get a post together for the blog awards, I thought the deadline was the end of July , so now I have to rush and hopefully get my **** together. 🙂

Have A Great Week and Happy Reading!!!! Be sure to sign up for the giveaway on my blog too that Ellery Adams is hosting.

    See you next week!!

    Dollycas

    1. Dollycas – yes, if you are planning on registering and submitting posts – you better get started. I opened up the registration two days ago and still havent finished….LOL

I am sure that is just me but I am trying to decide what to put up as an “offering” LOL…. I have to finish it tonight I know I do. 🙂

  12. I finally left 10 comments this week! yay! You had a great reading week and I hope you enjoy your upcoming books. Thanks for the reminder, I still have to register for BBAW!

  13. I feel like I missed out on so many great posts while I was gone. Vacation was great – I guess it’s worth being out of the loop for a while to ramp up my enthusiasm for all things blogging again. 🙂 I’m off to check out some of your other posts.

  14. Looks like some good reads. I’ll have to check out your review for Duff. Happy reading this week.

    1. aprilnicole – the DUFF review should be up later this week. I have so many big posts backlogged right now – all important, but have to figure out how to release them slowly so as not to scare my readers…LOL 😀

  15. Hi Sheila,
All your books sound great! Thank you so much for my winning of something from the prize box. I’ve sent you my email with all the info. Have a great day!

    Sherrie
    Just Books

    1. Hi Nikki-ann,so far I am really enjoying it. My deck is calling me and I am moments away from closing the laptop and heading outside with my book.

  16. Well, that’s 20-something blogs visited and comments left, I think I shall leave it at that tonight. I really should be writing reviews but I’m enjoysing seeing that everyone else is reading 🙂

      1. At some point I just have to content myself with the review. As much as I want to read everything, it is just not possible and my TBR list is to the ceiling. Have a great week.

  17. I haven’t heard about either of these books-but I have read a book by Hannah and enjoyed it very much. Have a great week.

  18. Love the Monday meme! It’s great to look at other peoples reading lists and see how far they’ve come.

Have a good reading week! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.

    Zee.

  19. I really should try turning off the TV in the evenings, too. I know I could get a lot more reading done that way.

Kristin Hannah is one of those writers I haven’t read yet, but really want to!

Hope you enjoy all your reading this week.

  20. Shelia,

Thanks for stopping by my blog – I’ll have to check out Between Sisters – I haven’t read that one.

Winter Garden is excellent on audio, the reader does a marvelous job with the accents and the voices, I highly recommend it.

  21. I am reading To Read a Mockingbird with a few fellow bloggers, are you interested I can email you.

Also, I am unsure if I completed the right application for judging, I need to review again but I am interested.

    1. Yes I am interested Marce, thank you. 🙂

I think the judging questions was on the application as a yes no…. if you think you filled it out wrong or missed it you could always email the committee and let them know you are interested.

Too many great blogs out there for me to want to do that! I think I would have a hard time deciding. 🙂

  22. I am sure you enjoyed your day off. I went in for a couple of hours and read around the pool the rest of the afternoon. I’m a big fan of Kristin Hannah.

  23. Just a quick note to say, I hope you had a wonderful 4th! I’m so very behind but think I will finally find some time to relax with my laptop this week. Just in time, we head to Boulder next week for a quick vacation and have company for 10 days next weekend.

I need to read up on your posts… have a great week.

    1. HI Mari – Colorado huh? Sounds fun! We should be going to the north shore next weekend if all goes well her e- fingers crossed. We have a cabin in Finland Minnesota and we dont get their very often. 🙂

  24. The covers of Between sisters and Born Under Shadows are both very enticing. Will look forward to your reviews.

Sounds like you had a great 4rth!

  25. Oh, to be able to just spend the day reading. I am visiting my sister for a few days. She is in Virginia and my Dad is down from NY for a visit. It is only a 7 hour drive here, not the 15 or so to his house, so I am taking advantage of it. No reading going on now. Have finally found a few minutes to get on the internet and try to catch up on blogs and emails. I will be so ready to hit the chaos at home and get to work when I get back.

Hmmmm... what do you think?
