Bloggiesta June 11-13 (Sticky Post – all new posts are below)

Bloggiesta has come and gone.  My wrap up post will be up later on Monday

It is that time of year again and I am ready!  Up until a few days ago I was not planning on participating as I had a weekend bike ride commitment.  Well, life happens and my schedule changed where I needed to work today and could not find enough help to cover my Sunday commitment so I had to take a pass on the bike ride.

What is Bloggiesta? (In Natasha, Maw Books words)

In short, it’s a blogging marathon.  An opportunity to cross those nagging items off of your to-do list and improve your blog while in the good company of other awesome bloggers doing the same thing.  Break out the nachos, enchiladas, drinks, mariachi music and whack a pinata or two!


In my words?  It is Blog Housekeeping and I am ready!  Below is my list of plans to do this weekend and I will cross them off as I accomplish them.  I will post my updates on Twitter (bookjourney) #Bloggiesta .  On Monday evening I will post my wrap up.

1.  Write reviews and catch up 100% (Reviews completed  1 2 3 4  5 6  7  8  9  10)

2.  Write back up/ rainy day posts (those ideas I have had for a while but have yet to put in print)

3. Prep my Michael Sullivan weekend post idea

4. Contact the authors who have agreed to Author Chats and submit my questions

5.  Prep Author Posts

6. Update my side bar books

7. Update the challenges

8.  Update my giveaways link

9.  If I am brave I am going to change my back ground color of my blog because for me that is Bloggiesta tradition.

10.  Play around with my header a bit (ooh I am loving my new header!)

11.  Visit at least 20 new blogs (40 visited so far)

12.  Bloggiesta – Blog Buddy Time (Hi Lydia – thanks!)

13.  Do all of the mini challenges

    1. Me too Julie – I think I can do it. Tonight I should have some time and I have a work out commitment Sat am but should have some time after that until I have to do set up for our IHN week.

    1. Vicki I feel really bad about it but I wasnt finding the help I needed here to make the ride relaxing you know? I would have worried about everything.

      After working all day today and not leaving my shift until after 5 pm, (when I was off at 2 pm) I knew I made the right decision.

  2. I’m still on the fence about participating. I’ve got so much I need to get done at my house. But it’s such a great way to make sure you get things done and I’m really wanting to do a new layout. While everyone is on is the perfect time to make sure there is help at the ready!

    Good luck with your list – but do not forget to read a good book in between with a nice cup of coffee. Thanks to you now I am addicted to coffee !!!!!!!! BUT I LOVE IT !!!! Just the way I love your blog. Have a great day and I seriously love the weather man these days. ( he is at last sending the rain ALONG WITH A COOLER ATMOSPHERE. Believe me it makes a hell of a difference in our climate that is it can rain…..and it still can get hotter than the summer)

      I am possibly considering a pedicure tomorrow afternoon – maybe. If I do that – I always take a book. Just picked up one form teh library that I have already peeked into! 😀

    1. You know I do – that sense of accomplishment. Just like a room in my house I know when it needs a fresh look and Bloggiesta is the perfect time for me to do just that 🙂

  5. As you know, I learned of this only Wednesday morning from your Bloggiversary post. I began prepping that afternoon and had already put lots of hours into it before the start gun went off this morning. Just having the task list created seems like a huge accomplishment and maybe the most important one of all because until you have it in front you to scroll through and manipulate the tasks remain a jumbled swirl of ‘should dos’ that move in and out of your peripheral vision leaving you feeling harassed and oppressed.

    My task list as presented in my start post.is itself a work in progress and way more than I expect to get done in one weekend because I set out to list every task I already knew needing tended to and then added things from the list on MAW and more things from things I spotted on other blogs. The list itself was a jumble at first so I grouped related tasks and then loosely prioritized. The list will probably take me months to work through but I put nearly all of it in my Bloggiesta start post anyway hoping to solicit advice and suggestions from the other participants.

    Learning and adding to the list as I visit participant blogs is going to be the highest of my priorities for the Bloggiesta. Whatever else i get done by Monday morning would be gravy.

    1. Bobbie – occasionally I get these hairbrained under developed ideas that I think “oh… that could make a great post or discussion”. Those I capture in a drafted post that I can look back at some day and hopefully finish the thought. I hate to lose those ideas. 🙂

  7. Have fun during the Bloggiesta! I have other things I have to do this weekend but will definitely be watching to see what all of you do and I’m sure it will inspire me to do some blog improvements in the very near future!

  8. Don’t you love lists. Crossing off something you have accomplished makes what you are accomplishing more real in some way. Hope you get to cross off lots of those tasks.

  9. This is such an awesome idea! I may participate! The ONE thing I know for sure that I need is a book rating system and then I’m sure once I got started I would find plenty! 🙂 Have fun and enjoy the party!

  10. I’m not officially doing the Bloggiesta but it did inspire me to clean up my sidebars, sort links and even update my stuff on Goodreads and Shelfari. (I did that around 1 am last night)

    I haven’t decided if I want to add a currently reading blurb to my blog or a goodreads widget. Hmmm decisions decisions.
