Morning Meanderings… Top 10 Literate Cities

1j

Good morning!  I only have a few minutes this morning, life has returned to normal and I am off to work this morning… first time in a week so really no complaints here. :D

I wanted to share with you something I read this morning over my coffee…. I read about the current top 10 literate citied and I found it interesting:

  1. Washington, D.C.
  2. Seattle, Wash.
  3. Minneapolis, Minn.
  4. Pittsburgh, Pa.
  5. Denver, Colo.
  6. St. Paul, Minn.
  7. Boston, Mass.
  8. Atlanta, Ga.
  9. St. Louis, Mo.
  10. Portland, Ore.

You know I am cheering for my home state Minnesota.  Yeah, that’s right… I dont get into sports much but I would wear the big foam finger to a bookish event going “Yeah… that’s right… we bad… We’re #3!  We’re #3!”

Ok… perhaps a bit much, but you get the point. :D

Today I work, I have a couple of errands, later I work out, it’s going to be an awesome day :D

  1. What? Not New York? And no California cities? I’m curious about who compiled the list…just saying…lol

  2. You’re the only state on the list twice. I think you need to invest in a foam finger for sure!

  3. #3 AND #6 – go Sheila :D

  4. I was glad to see DC – that is where I live and I spend a lot of time in Seattle, so I get my bookish stuff on both coasts!!!

  5. I would have expected Portland to be higher than 10th. I’d like to see a list of literate cities worldwide.

  6. I would have to say Sheila–You are awesome. LOL! Have a great day. I like numbers 3 and 6 from your list. (Minneapolis and St Paul)

  7. Would love to see what the stats are for Canadians. Good job falling in 3rd!

  8. I’m curious about the criteria used to make this list. Sadly, my city probably wouldn’t make the top 100.

  9. Wow, two MN cities in the top ten. Congrats for living in a literate state. Chicago should be ashamed of itself… way down there at 31… and calling itself a word class city. Hmpfft.

  10. Yay my city made it to number 2! Well I technically live about an hour away from Pittsburgh but it still counts!

  11. We are 3 AND 6! Not bad MN! I would definitely be interested in the “Why” behind it…

  12. To be #3 AND #6 HAS to be better that just being #1, dontcha think?

  13. Hey Minnesota’s on their twice ! I don’t see anyone else doing that :D

Hmmmm... what do you think?
