Morning Meanderings and A Giveaway you will not want to miss!!!

Good morning and happy Wednesday!

Looks like it will be a rainy gloomy day here today – sky is hazy gray….

I wanted to announce that I have a new giveaway!  I reviewed The Chaperone by Laura Moriarty last week and so enjoyed it!  Now I have been told that I can offer a SIGNED copy here of The Chaperone – and that my friends is SSSQQQUUUEEEEE worthy!  :D

Here is what is being said about The Chaperone:

  • “It’s impossible not to be completely drawn in by The Chaperone. Laura Moriarty has delivered the richest and realest possible heroine in Cora Carlisle, a Wichita housewife who has her mind and heart blown wide open, and steps–with uncommon courage–into the fullness of her life. What a beautiful book. I loved every page.”–Paula McLain, author of The Paris Wife

  • “What a charming, mesmerizing, transporting novel! The characters are so fully realized that I felt I was right there alongside them. A beautiful clarity marks both the style and structure of The Chaperone.”–Sena Jeter Naslund, author of Ahab’s Wife and Adam & Eve

  • “The Chaperone is the best kind of historical fiction, transporting you to another time and place, but even more importantly delivering a poignant story about people so real, you’ll miss and remember them long after you close the book.”–Jenna Blum, author of Those Who Save Us and The Stormchasers

  • “THE CHAPERONE is the enthralling story of two women… In this layered and inventive story, Moriarty raises profound questions about family, sexuality, history, and whether it is luck or will – or a combination of the two – that makes for a wonderful life.”  -O, the Oprah Magazine

  • “A fun romp” –Good Housekeeping

  • Laura’s fanpage

SO what to do to enter…..

1.  Leave a comment here telling me when you were a teen, what your “Big Dream” was for your life.  If you are a teen, share what the dream is for your life.  :D

2.  Leave a comment on my review of The Chaperone, and if you already have just let me know here.

That’s it.  I will draw a winner on the last day of May!

Have a super day – I am at work, and hopefully a workout and a meeting tonight….but this ends my evening commitments for the week and I am THRILLED about that.  :D

  1. Wichita? as in Kansas? I’m in.

  2. Oops, I jumped in too fast. My big dream when I was a kid? I think I first wanted to be a photographer but I changed my ‘what do I want to be when I grow up’ weekly. I did, however, want to see my name on things. So, I guess when I became a Realtor, I saw that dream come true.

OK, off to go read the review.

  3. When I was young my mom took in foster children and I so wanted “the system” to be able to help these children better that I wanted to become a social worker so I could have a part in changing their lives. But…then I fell in love, got married and only finished 2 years of college before having children. I’ve never had the energy or inclination to go back.

  4. oh, and I left a comment on The Chaperone review too.

  5. I wanted to be a pop star! Madonna was my idol. But I also had the marry-and-have-children dream, and that one ended up being stronger. Plus, I went back to my childhood dream to be a teacher. xx

P.S. I commented on your review, and with my current obsession with the 1920s, I know I would LOVE this book.:)

  6. I have an ARC of The Chaperone, so the “finished” copy and autographed…that would be SQUEEEworthy.

I did comment on your review of The Chaperone….

When I was a kid….hmm, that was a LONG time ago, but I know what I wanted to be….an author!

    Imagine that? lol

Of course, I was a lot of other things along the way, but that was my dream.

  7. I always wanted to be a nurse. To help people in some way.
I did not become a nurse, but an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician), and I volunteer with our local ambulance service.

  8. when I was a teenager my big dreams where 1. to be a lawyer-not sure where it came from I wanted to do since I was about 12, and to return to France-once I had flown into Paris and then had a brief layover in Nice-I remembering looking down as we were landing or taking off and thinking I need to return and both came through.

  9. left a comment on the review.

As a teen I had a dream of becoming an interpreter (Spanish) and working at the United Nations in some capacity. I never got that far but did end up working with language as a speech-language pathologist in the public schools. Some of my 19 years were spent with non-verbal preschool autistic kids. What a wonderful challenge they were!!

  16. My biggest dream when I was teen was to be sort of a Jane Goodall but with birds. I am still crazy about them. Later, when I was married, I could have gone to France where they study them more but couldn’t then. Sigh.

  17. I read your review and left a comment. If some some strange chance I could actually win, please notify by e-mail, CarolNWong(at)aol(dot)com

  18. When I was a preteen/teen I wanted to be an Olympic gymnast. As an older teenager I wanted to be a speech therapist. Thanks for a great giveaway.

  19. I wanted to be on Broadway very badly. I can actually sing. The problem is that I can’t dance…at all. Oh well!

  20. I dreamed of being a moviestar! I commented on your review of The Chaperone.

  21. Mary Preston

I don’t know that I ever had a BIG DREAM. That’s kind of sad really.

I have commented on your review of THE CHAPERONE.

  22. I also don’t think I ever had a big dream. I must have just drifted along.

  23. I also commented on the review The Chaperone.

  24. My big dream was to leave my very small hometown and go to college – the first of my family to do so.

  25. I commented on your review, Sheila. I’m intrigued!

  26. When I was a teenager, I wanted to be a writer. That was my big dream. It hasn’t happened and I’m not particularly on that path, but the good thing about that kind of dream is that it’s never too late to achieve it. Who knows? Maybe someday I will be a writer (you know, other than on a blog). Thanks for the opportunity to win!

I commented on your review post!

  27. Mine was to be a published novelist. My agent is getting my MS ready to go out on sub as we speak, so who knows. *Crosses fingers*

  28. I always thought owning a flower shop and nursery would be fun. But now I just enjoy beautiful plants in our garden.

  29. I left a comment on the book review. Very interesting!
    Thanks for the giveaway.
