My indulgent book is The Swan House by Elizabeth Musser. This book speaks to me in so many ways but I was originally drawn to it because I was born, raised, and still live in Atlanta within 5 miles of the Swan Coach House. I actually picked up the book on a visit to the Swan House for tea (and possibly too many mint juleps-they make them very strong). The glimpse of Atlanta history really ties the book together but it is the intense emotional feeling that pours off of every page which really makes your heart ache with a combination of sadness, pride, and discovery.

I very rarely reread, which is odd because I love to own books. Perhaps I just like to look at them and remember the time that I did read them? It's all in the memories.

C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia are fun to pick up and re-read.
Otherwise, with fiction I am so drawn to so many wonderful books that I don't read any fiction more than once.
I have a huge collection of nonfiction that I continually refer to, lots of gardening books and apologetics.

Interestingly enough, I don't have a book that I pick up and re-read periodically. Am I broken? (Don't answer that!)

The Bible is first and foremost the book I will always be reading through again and again. It is fascinating to me how at different times in our lives, different scripture really speaks and holds your heart.

I don't think I have ever had that type of reaction to a book. I have many times started to read a book only to remember the entire story line because I had read it before. I sometimes reread parts of books that I didn't really understand, especially dealing with events in the middle east. Also the Bible.

I read Outlander by Diana Gabaldon over and over again. As a matter of fact, I do several mini-rereads all year long on the entire series. I just love all six (soon to be seven) books and never get tired of them.

Actually there are several books that I have read and reread: Of Mice and Men by Steinbeck, Mystic River by Dennis Lehane and The Soul of a Horse by Joe Camp. I think what I like most about all three is they engaged me on a real emotional level. Steinbeck for his great characterizations and commentary on human behavior. Lahane likewise, and Camp because I am a sucker for horses and he really got into the mind of a horse the way he did dogs with Benji.
